Language and regulation are deeply connected. Students use language to name what they're feeling, ask for what they need before things escalate, and move through transitions and demands.

When that access is limited, whether from a communication difference or in-the-moment dysregulation, behavior that looks like non-compliance or escalation is often this breakdown showing up.

This session gives you a practical way to tell the difference and a shared framework for responding to it.

Who this is for: School-based SLPs, special educators, school psychologists, behavior specialists, occupational therapists, and MTSS team members supporting students with communication and emotional regulation needs.

Brittany Brunell, M.S. CCC-SLP, is the co-founder and Chief Learning Officer of Everyday Speech. She is a former school and private practice Speech-Language Pathologist.
