FAQ

Getting Started

When will this be available?

Our SEL curriculum will be available for the 2022-2023 school year, and users will have access beginning in August.

How do I get started?

Visit our purchasing information page to learn more about pricing. Once you're ready, our pricing guide has directions on how to purchase.

How does the SEL Curriculum Work?

We have a grade-by-grade curriculum for learners from Pre-K through grade 5.

Each grade has five units that directly align with the CASEL competencies. Each unit has eight lessons for a complete 40-week curriculum.

Who can buy the SEL curriculum?

SEL is done best when an entire school or district signs on. That way everyone is on the same page and using common SEL language and practices.

However, we know that different districts are in different stages in their SEL journey, so we've made licenses available for both entire districts and schools and for individual users.

Who is the SEL curriculum best for?

Our SEL curriculum is best used in a whole class, universal setting. Classroom teachers, social workers, school counselors, psychologists, or anyone else charged with teaching whole class SEL can use it.

If you're a speech-language pathologist working with students on IEPs, our existing Social Communication Curriculum is the best fit for you!

Can the SEL curriculum be used in Special Education?

Yes! Our SEL curriculum is designed to be used in any whole class environment. Our standard 40 week SEL track can be used in Special Education, with additional support bundles available for Tier 2 and Tier 3 support.

Our existing Social Communication Curriculum can be used by specialists such as Speech-Language Pathologists, social workers, psychologists, and others in small group or 1:1 settings for more specific, individualized support.

What types of materials are available in the SEL curriculum?

Our SEL curriculum uses the live-action video, digital and printable activities, and interactive web games that make our current Social Communication Curriculum the most interactive and engaging materials available in education.

We've adapted our materials to find a style and tone that is a best fit for a universal audience.

How do educators run an SEL lesson?

Each lesson is packed with all the information an educator needs to run a lesson, including:

  • Alignment to SEL standards
  • Guiding questions
  • Key terms
  • Embedded SEL strategies
  • One-pager lesson plans
  • Printables and visuals to support learning
  • Flexible lesson structures to fit any schedule

Whether you want to dive deep or only have a minute to prep for your lesson, we've got you covered.

What makes you different from other SEL providers?

Quite simply, the breadth and quality of our materials, plus the ease of use of our product.

We've heard from educators and administrators that the three biggest impediments to successful SEL implementation are a lack of good materials, difficulty getting teacher buy-in, and no time in the day to plan and run SEL lessons.

We've addressed those head-on in our curriculum. Each age track has 200 pieces of unique content, including top-quality video content that is unmatched in the education space!

The curriculum has embedded teacher tools so educators don't need any experience teaching SEL. They can start running fun, engaging, and effective lessons right away!

Lessons are structured to be flexible enough to accommodate 10 minutes of SEL every day, a half an hour a week, or anything in between.

What about Grades 6-12?

Our current curriculum focuses on PreK-5th grade students, but we will be adding curricula tracks for grades 6-12 for the 2023-2024 school year.

For Current Users

How is this different from your existing materials and curriculum?

Our current materials fit into our Social Communication Curriculum (SCC) and are targeted for use in 1:1 and small groups. These materials are intended for students with specific social and pragmatic goals, generally those receiving Tier 3 intervention.

Our upcoming Social-Emotional Learning Curriculum (SEL) is designed for universal, whole-class implementation. It includes all new, never-before-seen materials that you won't get in our SCC subscription. The curriculum can be used as a Tier 1 support. It also includes support bundles (with supplemental SCC materials) for Tier 2 and 3 SEL instruction.

If I currently have access to Everyday Speech, do I get access to this?
This is a substantially separate curriculum from our existing curriculum and is purchased separately.
What if I want to use both curricula?
In some use cases, both curricula are appropriate. If you're a social worker or other specialist that does whole-class SEL in addition to small group therapy, you may be a fit for both. Visit our Curriculum Comparison page for more information.
Does this affect your existing materials and curriculum?

Not at all! We are still committed to providing the best product available for our Social Communication Curriculum users.

The new SEL Curriculum simply allows us to reach more students. We're excited to bring our materials to every student in a building!

About SEL

What is SEL and why is it important?

CASEL defines SEL as "the process through which all young people and adults acquire and apply the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to develop healthy identities, manage emotions and achieve personal and collective goals, feel and show empathy for others, establish and maintain supportive relationships, and make responsible and caring decisions."

SEL has been shown to:

  • Improve test scores
  • Increase student motivation
  • Decrease dropout rates
  • Decrease student fights and other violent behaviors
  • Reduce emotional distress, including anxiety, stress, and social withdrawal
What are the biggest difficulties in implementing an SEL curriculum?

We've heard from educators and administrators that the three biggest impediments to successful SEL implementation are a lack of good materials, difficulty getting teacher buy-in, and no time in the day to plan and run SEL lessons.

We've addressed those head-on in our curriculum.  Each age track has 200 pieces of completely unique content, with video quality unmatched in the education space.
